about little river mama

this is a blog by me, amanda shamblin.

i am a stay-at-home mama to five. ohio grown. wife to my high school sweetheart, bray. we live by the river in small town, usa, with our five babes.

i thrift, i create, i rearrange. i love paper, always have, especially in the form of a good book or a new journal.  slowly exploring the world of slow fashion on a stay at home mom budget. living life with a capsule wardrobe. lover of national parks & disney movies (ariel's my spirit princess). i drink all the coffee (iced, hot, frozen, i don't care).  we love to travel & want to get to all fifty states with our kids. i have naturally red hair & have always thought anne of green gables was somehow written about me. subtraction causes me anxiety & i can't count change to save my life. drinking a mason jar full of sweet iced tea makes me think of my papaw. i'm a collector of old keys & antique bottles. i could live on chocolate and or strawberries, preferably both together.

somehow i was lucky enough to get the five coolest kids on the planet. i'm completely unbiased. oldest to youngest we have emma gayle, kennedy jane, lincoln marshall, olive deering & henry indiana. it's kind of crazy how you can see yourself in their little personalities. the perfect mixture of hubs & me. they're our constant, sort-of-free entertainment.

hubs is a principal at one of the local high schools. we live modestly. quaint house. not one, but two minivans. God provides for our needs & we prefer to live minimally. every day we try to live intentional lives through grace & in love.

i am bilingual. my second language is sarcasm. have always had a natural tendency towards poetry. always loved words. and spelling bees.

the only thing i can honestly say i cannot/will not/do not like has eight legs & spins a web.

so if you hate sp*ders, you'll love this blog. well, you may not love this blog, but i will like you for hating them. solidarity.

i love sharing what i'm learning as we raise our teen in this social media/smartphone driven world.  whenever i get the chance, i love talking fashion & sharing how living minimally with a capsule wardrobe is going. we love jesus & i will tell you all he's done for us any chance i can get.

this space is just a little piece of my life as a little river mama.
