when i noticed a flyer on the wall of my son's preschool class about a rummage sale that was happening at one of the local churches. then i remembered my friend posting on fb about her yard sale down the street (hey sarah). knowing i had the next 2.5 hours to myself, i figured there was no better way to spend that time than to drive all over town scouring for sales. so i set out on my voyage.
(i feel i should note that i did not grab my coffee when we ran out of the always fashionably late door & in the next 3 hours i was really feelin it)
my first stop yielded nada.
second yielded some vintage goodies for the kitchen.
i can justify any purchase of containers, jars or baskets...they're always so useful! also, i apparently collect old rulers now, too. i have an impressive collection of like 4 so far. i also have a jar full of old, uniquely shaped cookie cutters (even though i never use them for cookies-maybe more like cutting pb sandwiches), so i was pumped about the crescent moon find.
i love how the jar on the left has water wrote on one side and says juice on the other. and i never seem to have enough mason jars-no matter the size.
my third stop had a lot to look at but not too much i was needing. UNTIL i was looking through the purses and saw a few pretties. sadly, one's strap was broke (i know i could have it fixed but i wasn't feeling it), one was stained (boo)...and then there was her...
...in all her vintage glory. well kept. no holes inside. the original inside mirror still intact. working clasps. i am still stupid pumped about this find! i had also been on the lookout for a skinny little black watch. couldn't believe i found one today that works and is such great shape. put it on immediately.
this same stop gave me this amazing apron. it's thin, colorful, vintage & just a little off...and i love it. i found it at the bottom of a bunch of extra-large 90's tees. glad i didn't give up the search. ya know, there's something to be said about that...junk next to junk looking like junk. i think you have to be able to look at items separately and with an eye of potential. otherwise you can really miss out on hidden awesomeness.
fourth stop i found a few vintage tops (2 of the 3 ended up fitting but whatev). AND THEN i found this awesome textile. i am currently using it on our dining room table but i'm sure i'll be moving it around to about a thousand different places.
stops five and six were a God-send because they had clothes in each of my kids' sizes, name-brand, great condition and all for a dollar each. plus i picked up a bunch of scholastic books for each of the kids, too. gosh, i love books. i could buy them all the live-long day.
stop seven was my final since i was running out of time & needed to pick up our boy. soooo...for my grand finale i give you these brand new, leather, eastland loafers. fit perfect. feel amazing. look fantastic. i've been wearing them all day! super stoked!! i'll be iging the heck out of these. woot, woot
well, there you have it. my friday morning. minus coffee. who knows what i could've done with a little liquid motivation.
